To start your adventurous introduction to beautiful Sweden and Norway, drive to the northern German port city of Kiel. Here you drive your car or motorcycle onto the ferry around noon. If you are on time, you can walk straight into the center of the pleasant port city. On board the luxury ferry you can relax on the sun deck, enjoy the delicious food and the entertainment on offer. Your holiday starts on board! While you sleep you cover a great distance unnoticed.

Driving distance Utrecht – Kiel: approx. 530 km

Day 2 to 6. Among the reindeer in the mountains of Sweden

After a relaxing crossing, the ferry docks in the morning in the capital of Norway: Oslo. Via a beautiful route through mountainous landscapes you drive through Norway to the resort of Idrefjäll in the Swedish province of Dalarna. Keep your eyes open because you have a good chance of seeing a moose. In Idrefjäll, centrally located between a number of beautiful National Parks and nature reserves, you can experience fantastic adventures. Go out in the coming days to explore the impressive nature in the area. Directly from your holiday home you can explore the mountain landscape on foot or on horseback. Mountain bikers can indulge themselves and cycle on the winding paths around the Gränjesvålen mountain. You can visit a reindeer farm in the area or take a beautiful mountain walk in the Grövelsjön nature reserve, where you first take the water taxi over a mountain lake. You can then choose to walk back partly via Norway. Fishing, a spectacular rafting trip, beaver safari, canoe trip or overcoming your fear of heights on a high ropes course are also possible. Do you like golfing? Then you can try your luck on the 18-hole golf course, which is considered one of the most beautiful courses in Sweden. In the evening you drive onto the trollvägen. When you put your car in neutral at the indicated location, your car will drive up the mountain! You have a view over the vast plains around the famous Nipfjället and Städjan mountains in Sweden. Thousands of reindeer live on these plains in the summer. Be sure to visit the beautiful Fulufjället National Park. You can walk to the bottom of Sweden’s highest waterfall, the Njupiskär. The waterfall tumbles down 93 meters from a plateau. You can also walk over the waterfall and enjoy the beautiful views. A visit to the visitor center is very worthwhile. Or visit the musk ox farm, a prehistoric cattle farm or the Sonfjäll National Park where a large population of brown bears lives. You will stay in idrefjäll in a recently renovated, spacious holiday home, equipped with all modern conveniences.

Driving distance from the port in Oslo – Idrefjäll: approx. 340 km | 4. u. to ride

Days 6 to 10. The realm of National Parks in Norway

You will travel to your next destination via a beautiful route along rivers and mountain lakes, through forests and over barren mountains. A glorious mountain pass full of hairpin bends leads you to Norway’s oldest National Park, Rondane. You will stay in a grass-covered holiday home on the edge of the park for the next few days. The park, founded in 1962, offers more than enough challenges for lovers of untouched wilderness and steep mountain peaks. The Rondane National Park has 10 peaks above 2000 meters, such as the Rondeslottet (2178 m.) and the Storronden (2138 m.). There is an excellent network of hiking trails. Some start directly from your holiday home. You can walk straight into the impressive nature! If you can’t get enough of mountain hiking, drive to the mountain village of Høvringen, a little further away, where an unprecedented and easily accessible mountain world with abundantly flowering mountain meadows awaits you. Do you like action and adventure? Then get into a rafting boat and conquer the swirling rapids of one of Norway’s most beautiful rafting rivers. Or join a challenging cayoning tour where you follow the current of a river while jumping, swimming and abseiling. Slightly less active but certainly just as beautiful is an excursion through the beautiful Dovrefjell National Park where you look for the Musk Oxen and see them up close. Be sure to take the short walk to the architectural masterpiece “Norwegian Wild Reindeer Center Pavilion” for panoramic views over the Dovrefjell National Park and the snow-capped Snøhetta Mountain. Lovers of local delicacies can taste “Brunost” (caramelized) cheese in Heidal or order pure dishes with moose, reindeer or fish in a cozy restaurant. An afternoon exploring the area on a mountain bike or sailing across a reflective mountain lake by canoe will give you the ultimate feeling of freedom.

Driving distance Idrefjäll – Mysusæter: approx. 285 km | 4.15 hours drive

Days 10 to 14. Norway at its best!

A short, scenic drive through the mountains of central Norway takes you to your next residence, Beitostølen. Here you will stay in a beautiful grass-covered holiday home from which you can explore the impressive surroundings. The stunning Jotunheimen National Park undoubtedly takes center stage, and rightly so! It is an unspoilt and almost uninhabited, rugged area, approximately the same size as the province of Friesland, full of high mountains but also wild waterfalls, rivers, lakes, glaciers and valleys. Nowhere in Northern Europe will you find a greater concentration of mountains above 2,000 meters than here. The iconic mountains Galdhøppigen (2469 meters above sea level) and Glittertind (2464 meters above sea level) belong to the park and are the two highest mountains in Scandinavia. Jotunheimen offers some of the most spectacular mountain walks on the entire European continent. The highlight of all this is perhaps the path from Memurubu, where you will be taken by boat to the Gjendesheim mountain hut, via the narrow Beseggen ridge. The views to the south over lake Gjendevatnet (984 meters above sea level) and lake Bessvatnet (1373 meters above sea level) are phenomenal. Jotunheimen also has a long culinary tradition and herbs are grown locally on the Aukrust farm and dried and salted meat is available at Skjåk. Several farms produce and sell their own sausages, cheeses, hams and bread. A day tour around the National Park is highly recommended. You will cross the enchanting world of the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in Norway. A special experience that you will not soon forget is a ride in a cart behind a team of enthusiastic huskies. In short, you can enjoy this fascinating environment.

Driving distance Mysusæter- Beitostølen: approx. 120 km, 2 hours’ drive

Day 14 & 15. Farewell to Norway

After you have gained your last impressions of Beitostølen, you will travel back to Oslo where you will check in for your ferry crossing in the late morning. Relax and enjoy the delicious food and entertainment on board on the sun deck as the luxury ferry sets sail for Germany.

Driving distance Beitosstølen – Oslo harbour: approx. 220 km | 3 hours drive

Driving distance Kiel – Utrecht: approx. 530 kilometers
